Dear student, dear scholar,

Start planning summer 2018 right now: from 4 to 10 July 2018 the University of Antwerp (Belgium) offers a Children’s Literature Summer School, aimed at graduate students, PhD students and scholars interested in children’s literature studies.

In five thematic strands we provide lectures and workshops on recent research trends in children’s literature and childhood studies: new research methods, cognitive studies, age studies, cultural heritage and children’s media and urban studies.

Esteemed and upcoming scholars will participate as tutors: Julia Benner, Anke Brouwers, Jane Carroll, Justyna Deszcz-Tryhubczak, Erica Hateley, Vanessa Joosen, Folgert Karsdorp, Mike Kestemont, Bettina Kümmerling-Meibauer, Frauke Pauwels, Anna Sparrman, Ingrid Tomkowiak, Roberta Seelinger Trites, Sara Van den Bossche, Christophe Van Eecke, Helma van Lierop-Debrauwer and Pádraic Whyte will be presenting. During the weekend, you can register for optional excursions to the Children’s Book Museum in The Hague or the Comic Book Museum in Brussels (with Tintin walk).

The Summer School is mainly aimed at graduate students and PhD students, but professionals and more senior scholars are welcome too. 3 to 6 ECTS can be earned (see website for details). Graduate and PhD students are offered the opportunity to present their research and get feedback.
