The Board of Directors of the Astrid Lindgren Foundation Solkatten hereby invites heads of academic departments to submit nominations for the Astrid Lindgren Foundation Solkatten research grant. Eligible candidates are researchers with a PhD or PhD students.
Amounting to SEK 40,000 in 2024, the grant should cover costs for a research period at the Swedish Institute for Children’s Books in Stockholm, which has a research library with a large collection of theoretical literature on children’s literature (appr. 20 000 volumes). The Institute will provide study space and reference services and will also arrange for professional contacts with colleagues at the Department of Culture and Aesthetics at Stockholm University.
The nomination should include:
- A letter of nomination recommending the suggested candidate, signed by the head of department, maximum 1 page.
- A project description signed by the candidate specifying the candidate’s research interests, the aim of the research period in Stockholm, and the approximate time preferred for the utilization of the grant, maximum 2 pages.
- The candidate’s CV, including personal details and contact information, language proficiencies (knowledge of a Scandinavian language is a strong merit), academic education, previous research achievements and other relevant merits, and five selected publications, maximum 2 pages.

The Jury includes representatives of the Foundation, the Swedish Institute for Children’s Books, and the Department of Culture and Aesthetics at Stockholm University.
